Chr. Hansen, Novozymes Announce Strategic Alliance

MILWAUKEE--Chr. Hansen announced in late August astrategic alliance with Denmark-based Novozymes that will combine Novozymes'research and development of enzymes with Chr. Hansen's ingredient applicationsto the dairy industry. The complementary competencies and technologies forenzymes targeted to the dairy industry will be the basis for the alliance,according to a press release from Chr. Hansen (www.chr-hansen.com).The alliance is focused on the future and market expansion, but the agreementexcludes coagulant activities."The strong research and development and productioncapabilities of Novozymes combined with our strength in applications, technicalservice, sales experience and overall market knowledge, will result in a truepartnership that will expand our services and products," said David R.Carpenter, senior vice president at Chr. Hansen. "The benefit to the dairyindustry will be in the increased value of their products and improvement inproduction efficiency."Steen Riisgaard, chief executive officer at Novozymes, added,"In our new strategy, Novozymes has focused on a handful of new marketexpanding areas within enzymes.
