Speier's Ephedra Bill Passes State Senate
SACREMENTO--As reported in the April 8 INSIDER, state Senator Jackie Speier (D-San Mateo) introduced a bill (S.B.1750) asking that dietary supplements containing ephedrine alkaloids, creatine or androstenedione carry labeled warnings. Also, this bill would make it a misdemeanor for any manufacturer, wholesaler or retailer to sell products with these three ingredients to minors under 18 years old. In late May, the bill passed the state senate by a vote of 27 to eight and is slated to go before the Assembly. To stay updated on the status of the bill, visit www.leginfo.ca.gov.
