Novel Receives ISO Certification

WEST CALDWELL, N.J.— Novel Ingredient Services has been assessed and certified as meeting the requirements of ISO 9001:2008 for the supply and processing of botanical and nutraceutical raw materials for the dietary supplement, sports nutrition, food and beverage and pet care industries. ISO 9001:2008, which ensures customers receive consistent, good quality ingredients, products and services, is implemented by more than one million companies and organizations in 170 countries.

To obtain ISO 9001:2008 certification, Novel underwent an onsite audit that scrutinized eight quality management principles impacting the company's products and services:  customer focus, leadership, involvement of people, process approach, system approach, continuous improvement, fact-based decision making and mutually beneficial supplier relationships.  Novel will undergo the complex audit process annually to maintain ISO 9001:2008 certification.

The ISO 9001:2008 certification follows its registration in April to the NSF International Dietary Supplement Ingredient Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) program.  Novel was the first U.S. dietary ingredient supplier and the second in the world to achieve this designation.

"Companies rarely pursue multiple certifications," said Bob Green, Novel chairman.  "But quality is job No. 1 at Novel.  ISO 9001:2008 means there's one more set of eyes examining our quality systems, and helping ensure that Novel ingredients consistently meet or exceed regulatory requirements, as well as customer expectations."

Novel Ingredient Services is a supplier of botanical and nutraceutical raw materials. The company also offers global sourcing expertise, custom ingredient manufacturing, rigorous QA/QC (quality assurance/quality control), regulatory intelligence, and world-class customer service.  Novel’s international service network includes distribution facilities on the East and West Coast of the United States, as well as an office in China.
