<p style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">FDA has expressed support for the activities of outside groups include state agencies, reinforcing a simple fact: States are playing a growing role in policing the natural products industry. </p>

For America’s dietary supplement industry, 2015 has marked the year of the state attorney general. At Informa Exhibitions’ SupplySide West trade show in Las Vegas and at the Rocky Mountain Dietary Supplement Forum in Boulder, INSIDER interviewed on camera an FDA official, a former state regulator in Maryland and industry experts to explore the states’ growing role in policing a US$37 billion industry.

As the experts pointed out, it’s fairly clear that the states led by New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman aren’t finished with investigations into supplements. Facing heightened regulatory scrutiny from the states, supplement marketers have no choice but to adapt if they intend to stay out of the crosshairs of the attorneys general.
