Although some believe that the gluten-free market is about to slow down, recent research is showing that consumers are still demanding gluten-free products and brands are delivering. Indeed, “Allied Market Research predicts the gluten-free food market will increase from $3.13 million in 2015 to $5.28 million by 2022”. “In this context, food and beverage manufacturers are always on the lookout for gluten-free raw materials. Although our range of conventional nutritional yeasts Lynside® NUTRI is already catering to this need, we now see great opportunities for Lynside® NUTRI ORGANIC”, explains Pauline Colard, Nutritional Product Manager. To ensure the total absence of gluten in its organic nutritional yeasts, Lesaffre Human Care performs a series of tests on all batches, that includes Sandwich Elisa and competitive Elisa tests. The latter being the most efficient and reliable to quantify hydrolyzed gluten which is the most common form of gluten in organic yeasts. When identified in Lynside® NUTRI ORGANIC, quantities are always well below 20ppm which is compliant with gluten-free labelling regulations. “The benefits of nutritional yeasts are well-known and they have been used by consumers for decades, but with this new gluten-free certification, Lesaffre Human Care is now able to access a lot of new markets within the organic health and wellness realm”, she adds.
Beside being gluten-free and organic, Lynside® NUTRI ORGANIC provides a wealth of naturally occurring nutrients making it the perfect ally to boost modern consumers’ daily nutrition. Certified « ORGANIC FR-BIO-1 » by Ecocert, Lesaffre Human Care’s organic nutritional yeast is part of the Lynside®NUTRI family, range of primary-grown inactive dried yeasts (Saccharomyces cerevisiae), and is manufactured in Western Europe. Known as ‘nutritional yeasts’, these traditional superfoods are nutrient-packed. They are a reliable source of proteins, B vitamins, dietary fibers and minerals (K, P, Zn…) making Lynside® NUTRI ORGANIC a great nutritional ‘partner’ for health-conscious consumers looking for natural healthy products rich in nutrients and who perceive organic food to be healthier than conventional options.
Demand for organic products has been at an all-time high for several years now and is still growing; as is consumer’s appeal for gluten-free products thanks to more promotion of health and wellness as well as increased awareness about celiac disease and other gluten intolerances. Newly gluten-free certified Lynside® NUTRI ORGANIC can therefore be a tremendous asset for brands who wish to develop products that resonate with consumers. It is available in flakes (FL) and powder (PW) for greater usage flexibility:
- flakes are designed to be directly packaged in boxes for retail, to be sprinkled on foods or used for cooking by consumers.
-powder is recommended for applications such as functional foods and dietary supplements, alone or in combination with other active ingredients.
Beyond providing nutrient-packed yeasts, Lesaffre Human Care’s team also offers strong technical support and answers all questions to help reduce their customers’ time-to-market. Samples of Lynside® NUTRI ORGANIC flakes and powder are available upon request.
