Berjé Inc., a distributor of essential oils and aromatic chemicals, announced it achieved Safe Quality Food (SQF) certification, earning level 3 within the SQF program, which is recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI).
Level 3 is the highest level of certification available through the SQF program and indicates a comprehensive implementation of food safety and quality management systems development. Berjé scored 98 percent and had an "excellent" rating within the testing category.
Achieving the highest level of certification on our first third-party audit in our new headquarters facility demonstrates Berjés commitment to providing our customers with safe, secure, quality products and ensures that we continually meet and exceed the quality standards set in place by the SQF Institute," said Kim Bleimann, chairman and CEO of Berjé. Third-party audits for quality and safety are required under The Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). Because of this, suppliers need proof of safety plans and programs at the facilities and SQF certification provides validation.
