IFT to Celebrate 'I Heart Food Science Day' With Video Project

CHICAGO—As part of its 75th Anniversary, the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) is celebrating "I Heart Food Science Day" on March 21, by encouraging food scientists to submit videos sharing their food science story.

On "I Heart Food Science Day," food scientists can submit a short video (2 minutes or less) showcasing their love of food science. Submissions can include research, lab work or any other relevant information.

The videos will be complied into a virtual video scrapbook through which IFT members, the media and consumers can catch a glimpse of the passion and excitement behind food science. IFT will also be creating a compilation video composed of excerpts from submitted stories to show at the IFT Annual Meeting & Food Expo® this summer during the IFT 75th Anniversary Celebrations.

Earlier this year, IFT's Global Food Traceability Center (GFTC) received a grant from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation to conduct research into the impacts of traceability on consumer attitudes and business performance in the seafood industry. The project’s mission is to strengthen the performance and proficiency of the seafood industry by providing knowledge about the impact of traceability on reduction of waste, enhancement of consumer trust, and increase of business efficiencies.
