ATLANTA—Huber Engineered Materials (HEM) expanded its Modesto, California, manufacturing operation to accommodate additional capacity for high-shear batch granulation production for its health & nutrition business.
The new high-shear granulation becomes operational in June, and it will serve both the dietary supplement and pharmaceutical markets. This expansion adds high-shear wet granulation to existing fluid bed agglomeration, continuous high-shear granulation, blending and milling capabilities.
“This is a significant step forward for Huber Health & Nutrition," said Ryan Dismukes, vice president and general manager of Huber Health & Nutrition. “We continue adding to our granulation capabilities, as demand for our granulations has outpaced the growth of the market overall."
Dismukes added that the investment will allow the company to expand its product offering to include additional granulations, including certain botanicals, extended release formulas and microencapsulation.
The company also added a lab-scale unit in Huber’s Havre de Grace, Maryland, applications to support product development.
J.M. Huber Corporation, the parent company of HEM, recently won the IMD-Lombard Odier Global Family Business Award for 2013, which recognizes companies that unite family and business interests, in addition to combining tradition and innovation.
