New elections, new partners and a new website—industry players continue to make moves to grow their organizations and businesses. The Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) recently elected new chairmen and officers, while Fruit d’Or and Prakruti Products, INDIA announced big moves of their own.
CRN elected Harvey Kamil, vice chairman of NBTY Inc., as chair of the association’s board of directors. Kamil will hold the chairman post through 2016, succeeding John Blair, senior vice president of The Juice Plus+ Company. Blair will continue to serve on the board as immediate past chair. CRN’s board also approved new officers to serve alongside Kamil: chair-elect—Tyler Whitehead, Nu Skin Enterprises Inc.; treasurer—Marjorie Fine, Shaklee Corporation; secretary—Jim Hyde, Albion Laboratories Inc.; and immediate past chair—John Blair, The Juice Plus+ Company. Steve Mister, CRN president and CEO, will continue to serve as a board officer. CRN’s membership also elected two new board directors: Jeremy Moore, Stratum Nutrition; and Kevin Salerno, HORN Nutraceuticals. In addition, Michael DeGennaro, Lonza Inc., and Jim Hyde, Albion Laboratories Inc., were re-elected for a second three-year term, and Jim Hamilton, Neptune Technologies & Bioressources Inc., was appointed by the board chairman to serve a one-year term.
Fruit d'Or formed an exclusive partnership with Bright Pharma Caps Inc. to launch organic cranberry capsules containing 500 mg of Cran Naturelle organic cranberry (equivalent to 36 mg PACs). According to Patrik Barr, director of sales for Bright Pharma Caps, the company's NOP-certified Bright-Poly Organic capsules are the first and only certified organic capsules available in the market. He added that the new partnership allows the company to supply whole food organic cranberry powder encapsulated in organic capsules with no excipients, additives, preservatives, fillers, or lubricating or flow agents.
Prakruti Products, INDIA has also made changes to better serve its customers. The company launched its revamped website to include updated information on the company and its current product offerings. The new site features Prakruti’s wide range of ingredients for the food, dietary supplement and pharmaceutical industries, including herbal extracts, organic ingredients, phytochemicals, water soluble/dispersible ingredients and blends.
