ConAgra Recalls 27 Tons of Mislabeled Soup
February 5, 2014
MILTON, Pa.—ConAgra Foods voluntarily recalled approximately 27 tons of its Healthy Choice Chicken with Rice Microwaveable Bowl Soup, which may have been labeled incorrectly. The soups were produced at its facility in Milton, Pa.
The 5,200 recalled cases of the chicken rice soup may actually contain Healthy Choice Chicken Noodle Soup, which poses a food safety risk for consumers allergic to egg- and wheat-containing products, or to those who may have gluten sensitivity, intolerance or Celiac disease.
The issue was reported by consumers, although no illnesses have been reported in association with the recall.
The recall applies only to only Healthy Choice Chicken with Rice Microwaveable Bowl soups and does not impact Healthy Choice canned soup products. No other Healthy Choice products, refrigerated or frozen, have been affected.
The products were produced on Dec. 16, 2013, and distributed to retail establishments in Alabama, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin. The products were also distributed to Dominican Republic, Jamaica and Puerto Rico.
