KARNATAKA, India—Natural Remedies Pvt. Ltd. recently completed pre-clinical efficacy and safety studies on GutGard™, a new branded ingredient of its product line recommended for gut health. As a next step towards scientific substantiation, Natural Remedies is now initiating a double blind, randomized, placebo-controlled clinical study for GutGard. Pre-clinical efficacy studies like anti-H. pylori, antioxidant, nitric oxide scavenging, trypsin inhibition studies and also animal studies on various stress induced ulcer models have shown the beneficial effect of GutGard in gut health. Safety of GutGard was established by Ames test and oral toxicity study in rats.

GutGard is a novel standardized deglycyrrhizinated licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra) extract. Licorice is a well known Ayurvedic herb traditionally used in the treatment of various gut related problems.
