EFSA Gives OK to Manganese Bisglycinate Chelate

ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich.—Albion announced it received notice that the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) issued a positive safety assessment regarding the use of Albion’s manganese bisglycinate chelate in dietary supplements. The assessment is an initial step in the procedure for formal allowance to use manganese bisglycinate chelate in dietary supplements in the European Union.

This is the sixth bisglycinate chelate mineral (branded as TRAACS™ mineral amino acid chelates) from Albion to receive a positive safety assessment from EFSA. Its calcium, magnesium, iron (Ferrochel®) and zinc have been formally allowed for use in the EU in foods, dietary supplements and foods for particular nutritional purposes; copper and manganese are pending approval.
