<p style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">An FDA official and others in the natural products industry weigh in on recent data that underscores an unsettling fact: many dietary supplement companies still haven&rsquo;t mastered the cGMPs (current Good Manufacturing Practices). </p>

As Natural Products INSIDER reported earlier this fall, FDA has revealed that a number of dietary supplement companies are still failing to establish specifications and test ingredients. Clearly, regulators find intolerable such deviations from the cGMPs (current Good Manufacturing Practices). But an FDA official recently highlighted cGMP data that gives the industry—particularly larger companies—reason for optimism. And an Herbalife executive provided context for understanding the significance of FDA "observations" following a cGMP inspection.
