AHPA: Cannabis Similar to other Natural Products

<p>The growing business of medical and adult-use marijuana spurs the need for standardization, and the <a href="http://www.ahpa.org/" target="_blank">American Herbal Products Association</a> (AHPA) has been helping the cause with its <a href="http://www.naturalproductsinsider.com/topics/cannabis.aspx" target="_blank">cannabis</a> committee and support for legalization regulation.</p> <p>In this <b>INSIDER</b> interview, Michael McGuffin, AHPA's president, speaks on the importance of harmonizing marijuana and hemp legislation among the states, establishing GMPs (good manufacturing practices) and creating distribution standards.  While marijuana shouldn't be regulated in the exact same way as other botanicals due to safety concerns, the natural products industry can become a part of this growing business and help it transition from an illegal to a regulated trade. </p>
