Lonza Announces Settlements in Patent Infringement Suits

FAIR LAWN, N.J.

Lonza Inc., a subsidiary of Basel, SwitzerlandbasedLonza Group Ltd., announced settlement of three patent infringement actionsfiled last fall. Under terms of the May 9 settlement, Barrington Chemical Corp.,Carnitech, Nutritional Sourcing International (NSI) and NSI Leaders Nutritionadmitted validity of Lonzas patents on L-carnitine and agreed to refrain fromfuture infringement. Reto Rieder, global director, nutrition, for Lonza, addedthe company also settled its infringement suit against DNP International;however, litigation is ongoing with Axel Chemical and Stauber.
