Chemi Nutra Gets PS Patent for Testosterone Management

WHITE BEAR LAKE, Minn. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) issued a new patent (no. 8,124,594) to Chemi Nutra for Methods using Phosphatidylserine (PS), lysophosphatidylserine, and/or salts thereof to increase testosterone levels." The patent, granted on February 28, 2012, describes the oral use of PS to maintain healthy testosterone levels, targeted to men experiencing age-related declines in testosterone, exercise-induced declines in testosterone and/or hypogonadism.

Scott Hagerman, president of Chemi Nutra, said this technology will open doors for the use of PS in healthy aging, strength training and body composition management in men. "I am confident PS will now move beyond its well-known cognitive enhancing health benefits and into this new area of use, as people become aware of these newest hormone related attributes," he said.

Martin Purpura, Ph.D., managing member of Increnovo, a consulting company focused on the dietary supplement, food, beverage and cosmetic industries, noted a study showed short-term supplementation with a moderate dose of PS prevented a stress-induced increase in cortisol concentrations, and benefited impaired testosterone levels. These new findings, protected by this recently granted patent, will open new markets for Chemi Nutras branded PS, SerinAid® PS, for PS-based anti-aging and sports nutrition nutritional supplements," he said.

A different recent study found PS supplementation significantly increased cognitive function prior to exercise. Researcher noted the natural ingredient could improve cognitive function in athletes and non-athletes alike.
