NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) awarded BioCell Technologies with a patent (No. 8,563,045) regarding its BioCell Collagen ingredient. The company's sixth patent covers the use of the ingredient in multiple ingestible and topical applications, in addition to claims pertaining to molecular composition, molecular weight and manufacturing method.
A great deal of care goes into making each batch of BioCell Collagen and maintaining a consistent high quality standard capable of replicating the positive effects demonstrated in numerous BioCell Collagen specific clinical trials," said Suhail Ishaq, president of BioCell Technology. "This patent further strengthens our BioCell Collagen intellectual property portfolio and helps reassure our world-wide licensees that they have a highly-differentiated nutraceutical that has U.S. Patent protection."
BioCell Collagen combines hydrolyzed collagen type II, chondroitin sulfate and hyaluronic acid (HA). The ingredient has demonstrated benefits for joints, tendons and ligaments; in 2013, a study published in Clinical Interventions in Aging found supplementation with with BioCell Collagen® reduced visible signs of aging in the face as well as dermal aging parameters.
