Abbott Labs Receives Patent for PUFAs

ABBOTT PARK, Ill.--Abbott Laboratories (www.abbott.com)was assigned a U.S. patent (No. 6,326,355) for administration of a nutritionalformula for prevention and treatment of cancer cachexia (disease-associatedwasting syndrome) and anorexia. The composition includes specific amounts ofparticular omega-3 fatty acids, branched-chain amino acids and antioxidants.
