<p>Rupa Das, vice president of global quality and compliance, BI Nutraceuticals, will present on botanical identification methods at the 2014 American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) Botanical Congress at SupplySide.</p>

LONG BEACH, Calif.—Rupa Das, vice president of global quality and compliance, BI Nutraceuticals, will present on botanical identification methods at the 2014 American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) Botanical Congress, which will be held in conjunction with SupplySide West on Friday, Oct. 10, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Mandalay Bay South Seas Ballroom F in Las Vegas.

Specifically, Das will highlight BI's Identilok® species identification process, which the company employs as part of standard testing procedures for all its botanical ingredients.

Das will discuss and present step-by-step demonstrations of the analytical tools employed as part of Identilok species testing, including:

            •           Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC)

            •           Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR)

            •           Microscopic Image Analysis

            •           Organoleptic Testing

            •           Macroscopic Taxonomy

            •           High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)

            •           Gas Liquid Chromatography (GC)

Das has more than 20 years of quality and regulatory compliance management experience in the dietary supplement and personal care product industries. She is a certified GMP auditor and currently serves as a member of the AHPA's Board of Trustees. Prior to her work in the industry, she was a chemistry lecturer at several California State Universities.
