The global population of those ages 60 and older is projected to grow by 56 percent between 2015 and 2030, amounting to 1.4 billion people. By 2050, that number is projected to reach a staggering 2.1 billion, more than doubling the 2015 global senior population of 901 million. According to a recent Consumer Generations whitepaper by Tetra Pak, 32 percent of seniors are actively looking for products and services that help them live a healthy life. Areas of opportunity within the supplement and functional foods and beverages categories include bone, digestive and cardiovascular health. Emerging areas of interest include brain and visual health.
