Tenaga Improves Mens Sexual Health

SAN DIEGOTenaga, a patented freeze-dried water extract form of the Eurycoma longifolia plant, improved sexual performance and satisfaction in a new study of 26 older men looking to improve their sexual performance. Jay Udani, M.D., CEO and medical director of Medicus Research, will present his teams findings during the January 2011 Scripps Natural Supplements: An Evidence-Based Update conference in San Diego. The conference is attended by physicians, naturopathic doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, dietitians and other healthcare professionals.

In the 12-week, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study, men with mild erectile dysfunction were given either 200 mg/d of Tenaga (Biotropics Malaysia Berhad) or an identical placebo. The men collected data on their sexual performance using a set of validated questionnaires including: Percentage of Successful Sexual Intercourse Attempts, Erection Hardness Scale, Sexual Health Inventory and Aging Male Symptom Score. Safety and tolerability were monitored by blood biochemistry and adverse event observation.

An interim analysis after 26 men completed the study showed that the men who were given the Tenaga reported significant improvements in sexual performance and satisfaction across several clinically important parameters, when compared to the placebo," Udani reported. It also is worth noting that Tenaga was well tolerated with a safety profile identical to the placebo. Additionally, both the product and placebo were tested for the presence of pharmaceutical adulterants before the study began and were found to be free of any such contamination."

The subjects who took Tenaga demonstrated statistically significant (P<0.05) higher scores than the placebo group at 12 weeks in the following endpoints: erection hardness scale score, active males symptom score and the sexual health inventory for men. Additionally, the Tenaga group was statistically significantly higher than the placebo group at 12 weeks on the following scores: Overall, were you satisfied with this sexual experience?", Overall, were you satisfied with the hardness of your erection?", "Were you able to insert your entire penile shaft into your partner's vagina?", Were you able to achieve at least some erection?", and "Did your erection last long enough for you to have successful intercourse?"
