THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, India--Fruit and vegetable intake seems toprotect against gallbladder cancer, while red meat is associated with anincreased risk, according to a study published in the August issue of the EuropeanJournal of Cancer Prevention (11, 4:365-8, 2002) (www.eurjcancerprev.com).Researchers from the Regional Cancer Centre conducted a case-control study thatinvolved 64 newly diagnosed cases of gallbladder cancer and 101 cases ofgallstones, which are a possible risk factor for gallbladder cancer.
