NBA Bans Androstenedione
NEW YORK--The NBA and National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) Prohibited Substances Committee issued a joint statement March 30 that nine steroids had been added to its banned substances list, including androstenedione. "It is a fundamental part of our agreement that a committee of experts would periodically review and update the list of banned substances," said NBA deputy commissioner, Russ Granik.
Other substances banned include dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), nandrolone and testosterone. Players will be subject to testing for these substances beginning October 2000. For more information visit www.nba.com.
