NEW YORKDeborah Yurgelun-Todd, Ph.D., director of the Cognitive Neuroimaging Laboratory at The Brain Institute at The University of Utah, will present new scientific data on Kyowa Hakko's branded brain health ingredient Cognizin® in an education session titled "Attention, Memory & Recall: Cognizin's Role in Brain Function" at SupplyExpo on Saturday, March 12 from 3 to 4 p.m. in room 207C. Yurgelun-Todd will highlight results of a six-week study conducted at McLean Hospital, a Harvard Medical School affiliate located in Belmont, MA, designed to measure and visualize the functional effects of Cognizin on various facets of brain function.
SupplyExpo/Expo West show attendees can also stop by the Kyowa Hakko booth #242 to sample Nawgan, a brain-health beverage that contains Cognizin that was developed by Robert Paul, board-certified clinical Neuropsychologist. Attendees can also receive information on how to download the company's new iPhone app "Cognizin Memory."
Yurgelun-Todd is also a professor of psychiatry at the University of Utah. She holds a doctorate in neuropsychology from Harvard University. Formerly, she was associate professor of psychology in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and the director of the cognitive neuroimaging laboratory at the Brain Imaging Center of McLean Hospital, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School.
Cognizin is a branded form of citicoline, a natural substance found in every cell of the body and vital to brain health. Citicoline is broken down during intestinal absorption and, after passing through the blood/brain barrier, is reconstituted in the brain as citicoline. Citicoline is a water-soluble compound that supplies precursors for the synthesis of phospholipids, including phosphatidyl- choline, a major constituent of brain tissue; helps maintain normal levels of acetylcholine, a chemical that regulates memory and cognitive function; enhances communication between neurons; supports visual function; protects neural structures from free radical damage; enhances metabolism and healthy brain activity; and helps sustain healthy cellular mitochondria for sustained energy. Cognizin is also GRAS and allergen-free.
Kyowa Hakko is an international health ingredients manufacturer that offers the branded ingredients including Cognizin® citicoline, Hydrafend hyaluronic acid, Lumistor® L-hydroxyproline, Setria® Glutathione, Kyowa CoQ10 as well as Sustamine(TM) L-alanyl-L-glutamine.
