Nearly one-third of consumers said they feel deficient in omega-3s, and two in five consumers would like to add more of the nutrient to their diets. In addition to supporting heart health, omega-3s have been linked to mood enhancement and a healthy inflammatory response, as well as brain, joint and skin health, among other potential benefits. Despite challenges securing a health claim or dietary reference intake (DRI) in the United States, pro-omega regulatory efforts across the world are advancing.
