WESTCHESTER, Ill.—Ingredion Inc. introduced its new BIOLIGO™GL 5700 IMF galacto-oligosaccharides (GOS) prebiotic ingredient for infant formula, functional food, beverage and dietary supplement applications.

Galacto-oligosaccharides are some of the most studied oligosaccharides in the world, and they provide numerous digestive and immune health benefits. BIOLIGO GOS is a part of the company’s portfolio of innovative nutritional solutions that deliver health benefits to consumers across life stages. BIOLIGO GL 5700 IMF is made from food grade lactose—it is in the form of a syrup and contains a minimum of 57 percent GOS (dry basis). It is stable in high temperature processes and low pH applications, making it suitable for a range of formulations.

BIOLIGO GOS is currently manufactured at Ingredion’s modern facility in Icheon, South Korea, and meets the required hygiene standards for infant formula production. Ingredion has more than 20 years of experience in manufacturing oligosaccharides under GMP (good manufacturing practice) conditions.

Earlier this year, Ingredion entered an agreement with Alliance Grain Traders (AGT) to be the company’s distributor of pulse flours, protein and bran ingredients.
