Tumeric supplement launches were all over Expo West this year. While INSIDER noted this trend in 2014, this year brought a bigger wave of curcumin products.
Gaia Herbs’ TurmericBoost is a new turmeric powder line offering 42 mg of curcumin per serving. The addition of black pepper enhances the absorption of curcumin, while holy basil supports a healthy response to stress. Both TurmericBoosts in the new line are vegan, unsweetened, soy-free, gluten free, and are designed to be blended into smoothies or milk beverages. TurmericBoost: Restore is designed for a daily foundational support, and features a vanilla chai prebiotic blend including organic cardamom, allspice, cinnamon and vanilla bean. TurmericBoost: Uplift incorporates all the attributes of the Restore formulation and also includes the addition of Gotu Kola and lemon balm leaf to support a gentle calming action and a healthy mood.
Gaia Herbs also recently released Turmeric Supreme: Immune A.S.A.P., a synergistic immune support supplement designed for those looking for support during the onset of immune issues. It contains turmeric root extract, echinacea, black elderberry, andrographis, black pepper and ginger root.
MegaFood teamed up with Kauai Organic Farms to deliver three different tablet formulas in its new Turmeric Strength Collection: Turmeric Strength for Liver, Turmeric Strength for Joint and Turmeric Strength for Whole Body. Besides for turmeric, Turmeric Strength for Liver also contains milk thistle seed and schisandra, Turmeric Strength for Joint contains boswellia and devil’s claw, and Turmeric Strength for Whole Body contains superfruits, such as black cherry and raspberry, and holy basil.
Irwin Naturals’ Tumeric After Sport with magnesium is designed to use after exercise, such as yoga and running, to reduce inflammation. The product says it reduces temporary pain and stiffness due to strenuous exercise. It contains Curcumin C3 complex (from Sabinsa Corp.), which is noted on front of label. It also include CherryPURE® tart cherry powder (from Shoreline Fruit) and Boswellin® Indian frankincense (from Sabinsa).
Reservage launched two new turmeric supplements, one that is organic and one that is combined with resveratrol—the company’s signature ingredient. The organic version has 500 mg of curcumin standardized to 95-percent curcuminoids (as Curcupure™ from Select Ingredients and Manufacturing). It is designed to help reduce inflammation. The tumeric with trans-resveratrol product also contains 500 mg of Curcupure with 100 mg of the Pro-Longevity Factors® blend of Japanese knotweed extract, French whole red wine grape and muscadine whole red grape. Both of the new turmeric products are vegetarian.
Jarrow Formulas’ new Curcumin Absorb features OmniActive’s Curcuwin™ turmeric extract at 500 mg/serving. It is vegan, and gluten, soybean, dairy and GMO free.
Rainbow Light’s TheraMend, part of its new Integrative Health Therapies (IHT) line, contains several botanicals including curcumin, designed to ease pain, stiffness and the inflammation response. It contains Perluxan® hops extract (from Soft Gel Technologies), Meriva® curcumin (from Indena), ApresFlex® boswellia serrata extract (from PLT Health Solutions), quercetin, bromelain and ginger.
Europharma’s new BCM 95 + OPC [Oligomeric proanthocyanidins] combines BCM-95® curcumin (from Dolcas-Biotech) with French grape seed and Tumerones (from turmeric oil). It is designed to reduce the risk of oxidative stress damage, and provide cell protection for brain, liver, heart, breast, colon, liver and prostate health.
