Fast Casual Chains Stay Afloat In Sinking Economy

Fast casual chains such as Panera Bread and Chipole have stayed afloat in the sinking economy. BrandWeek reported that, compared to fast-food chains, fast casual restaurants' healthier options and similar pricing have allowed their sales to skyrocket by 13 percent.

Experts also attribute fast casuals growth to demographics, as its younger consumer base has more discretionary income. Fast casual chains also attract more affluent customers. In addition, baby boomers have taken interest in fast casual dining as it provides a better experience than traditional fast food chains.

Reasonable pricing has also contributed to the appeal of fast casual dining establishments.
