Managing life and responsible business in pandemic red zones

Despite being based in COVID-19 hotspots in the U.S. and Italy, ingredient supplier Indena has managed to stay healthy and productive despite supply and demand challenges.

Seattle, Washington, and Milan, Italy. Two of the most well-known red zones during this COVID-19 pandemic. Living in these outbreak hotspots has been challenging enough, working in these environments has come with additional challenges. Botanical ingredient supplier Indena S.p.A. is based in Italy with a U.S. base in Seattle.

Jon Benninger, VP of the Health & Nutrition Network for Informa Markets, caught up with Greg Ris, vice president of sales for Indena, via video conferencing to talk about the adjustments Ris and Indena has made to maintain health, sanity and prosperity.

Highlights of this episode of Catching Up with Jon Benninger include:

  • How to deal with both cargo and transportation delays and sourcing materials.
  • How the surging demand during a pandemic for certain supplements, such as immune products, challenge production of ingredients such as quercetin, echinacea and elderberry.
  • How the greater supplement industry should promote a stronger message about responsible marketing amid this crisis and weed out the rogue players.
