Don’t be a horrible boss; communicate instead

People don’t quit jobs, they quit bosses, according to Gallup research. Amy Summers from Pitch Publicity shares insight into how good communication makes a boss go from horrible to wonderful.

Gallup research from as far back as 2017 has shown that people leave managers, not companies, and newer Gallup insight shows the “Great Resignation” has increased the trend. Amy Summers, founder and president, Pitch Publicity and INICIVOX, has thought a lot about what it takes to be a good boss, since she is one and works with so many companies in the natural products space.

“After being a boss for so long, bosses forget that we need to communicate better with our teams,” Summers told Sandy Almendarez, senior content director, Informa Markets, in this video interview captured at Natural Products Expo West. “And it’s simple things like showing gratitude and appreciation, using encouraging words and providing flexibility. All of these things are helpful.”
