ESSEN, Germany—Evonik Industries will soon offer customers products that have been certified in accordance with the standard Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), such as emulsifiers and consistency enhancers used in creams and lotions.
Evonik is a raw material supplier for the cosmetics industry and uses palm oil or palm kernel oil.
“In doing so, we are making a further important step forward in order to better support our customers in reaching their sustainability targets," said Dietmar Moll, senior vice president of the personal care business line.
Evonik promotes the plantation and use of sustainable palm. After joining the RSPO in 2010, its first task was to identify and implement supply chains; its first product became certified in Germany at the end of last year.
Earlier this year, Evonik won an Award of Merit in the China Personal Care & Cosmetics Innovation Award category at the Personal Care and Homecare Ingredients (PCHi) 2014.
