Croda Acquires Encapsulation, Delivery System Technology

Croda International Plc acquired the technology portfolio of Inventiva Ltda., based in Porto Alegre, Brazil. This transaction, completed by Croda Brazil, adds Inventiva’s encapsulation and delivery system technologies to the company’s range of ingredients for the personal care industry.

The acquisition brings a suite of market-proven technologies, customer relationships in Brazil and South America, scientific data and knowledge. Additionally, it will form the basis of a research and technology platform for the encapsulation and delivery of Croda’s products, providing new opportunity in the company’s innovation program for personal care.

“The capabilities of Inventiva and experience of its team are exciting additions for Croda," said Marco Carmini, managing director, Croda Latin America. “They will allow us, in the short term, to expand our product offering within personal care and enable us to develop, in the future, new and exciting ingredients to meet the needs of consumers in this and other market sectors."

Inventiva was founded in 2008 with the goal of developing and manufacturing encapsulated systems for supply mainly to the personal care industry.

In other news, Croda showcased market insights, products and formulations at the in-cosmetics exhibition in Seoul, South Korea, July 6-7.

The “water trend," according to Croda, is one of the latest trends from the Korean and Japanese markets. At in-cosmetics, Croda demonstrated several different types of formulations including watery textures with a weightless feel and emulsions that transform on the skin.

Addressing the trend of instant anti-aging benefits, Croda’s Prolevis™ is high molecular weight protein hydrolysate with film-forming properties that envelops the skin, instantly smoothing visible surface wrinkles and imperfections. Prolevis provides consumer-perceivable skin smoothing, tightening and firming.

Perceptions of pollution are increasingly influence the personal care market. Citystem™ is a recent launch designed to fight against pollution damage to the skin. Developed from an eco-designed HTN™ plant cell culture process and sustainably produced, Citystem counteracts the effects of pollution while offering effective protection against aggressions. Proven instant and long-term cosmetic benefits include:

  • Protection of skin cells from the penetration of pollutants

  • Removal and neutralisation of toxic oxidant species
