Antioxidants May Combat Skin Damage

NEW ORLEANS--Karen Burke, M.D., a dermatologist, announced at the American Academy of Dermatology's 2002 Annual Meeting that antioxidant vitamins E and C and selenium may offer protection against photoaging of the skin. According to Burke's presentation, which was written up in the March 2002 American Nutraceutical Association E-Newsletter (www.americanutra.com), these three antioxidants may reverse damage that has already been done to skin and protect against skin cancer when used topically and orally.
