MOMENCE, Ill.—FutureCeuticals Inc. published the results of a clinical study on the direct effect of its dietary supplement ingredient formula on reactive oxygen species (ROS)—often referred to as free radicals—in humans. The study focused on Spectra, an all-natural blend of 30 fruit, vegetable and herbal powders and extracts, which has been balanced to bring targeted antioxidant potential.

Twelve participants were given Spectra, and blood samples were collected every hour for three hours to be tested for ROS. Using a fluorescent probe, the researchers were able to measure the ROS concentrations in the blood, and the study showed that 11 of the participants had a decreased amount of ROS after taking Spectra.
