Trapp, MSN, APRN, BC-ADM, CDE, is the director of Diabetes Education and
Care of the non-profit, Washington, D.C.-based Physicians Committee for
Responsible Medicine (PCRM). Board-certified in adult primary care,
advanced diabetes management, and diabetes education, she has worked with
people with diabetes for more than 20 years. As a nurse practitioner
specializing in diabetes, she was successful in helping Premier
Internists, P.C. of Southfield, Michigan achieve Diabetes Provider
Recognition from the American Diabetes Association/NCQA and also the
Governor’s Award for Excellence in Diabetes Care.
Trapp championed the creation and implementation of the new PCRM Food
for Life for Diabetes classes in the Detroit area, the first site outside
of Washington, D.C., to host these classes. In her role with PCRM, she
oversees the development and implementation of a public and professional
diabetes nutrition education initiative. Trapp has just returned from
China, where she presented “A New Approach to Diet and Diabetes” at
the Institute of Nutrition Science in Shanghai. She is an adjunct faculty
member of the University of Michigan’s School of Nursing.
