Speakers:
Gregory J. Stephens, RD, the vice president of strategic consulting for Natural Marketing Institute (NMI), has 25 years of specialized expertise in the nutrition and pharmaceutical industries. His background includes sales, marketing, strategic planning, clinical research and regulatory affairs for companies such as Nurture, Inc. and Ross Nutritional Products Division of Abbott Laboratories. He has a Bachelor of Science in human nutrition from Georgia State University and is a registered dietitian with the American Dietetic Association. Greg is a frequent author of published articles, a contributing editor for Nutraceuticals World Magazine, and a speaker at industry events such as Natural Products Expo, Supply Side, American Dietetic Association and American Healthcare Association.
Ian Newton was born in New Zealand, and received an honors science degree in botany and zoology from New Zealand. Following post-graduate research, he relocated to Canada. Ian joined Hoffmann-La Roche in 1979, holding a variety of positions, including group director, human nutrition, Canada; and eventually director of business development and regulatory affairs, DSM Nutritional Products, USA. He was responsible for the development of various nutrients, new ingredients and also directed nutrition public information programs as a resource for health professionals, academics and the media. He has also published on the dietary and nutritional aspects of vitamins, long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids and nutraceuticals in a variety of scientific journals. Now retired from DSM, Ian manages his own consulting business, Ceres Consulting, based in Markham, Ontario, Canada, specializing in business and product development in the health and nutrition sector. He has also consulted internationally for governments and global organizations. Ian actively participates in many areas of human nutrition and is a member of the AOCS, ISSFAL and IFT, and is involved in Advisory and Boards of Directors positions in health orientated companies, and nutrition related institutions.
