SÃO PAULO, Brazil–Professionals from the functional and nutraceutical food industries will gather in South America for the first conference and exhibition dedicated to those industries in the region. Vitafoods South America, set for March 28 and 29, 2012 at Frei Caneca Convention Center in São Paulo, Brazil, comprises an exhibition and the Vitafoods South America Conference, offers regulatory updates, and features new distributors and producers.
The exhibition features global nutraceutical ingredients companies such as BASF, Fortitech, Bio Serae Labs, Golden Omega, Croda and many others. The conference, which features both marketing and scientific sessions, will include speakers from institutions including Anvisa (National Agency of Sanitary Defense), Bunge, Danone, Embrapa, Pepsico, Unilever, Nestlé Institute Health Science, State University of Campinas (Unicamp) and the University of São Paulo (USP).
“We’re excited to be bringing together national, regional and global experts to discuss the issues and growth potential offered by the thriving South American market," said Chris Lee, event director of the Vitafoods portfolio worldwide. “Many new products will be on show for the first time in Brazil, making the exhibition a must-attend for all professionals in the functional food and nutraceutical industries."
More than 40 conference presentations will discuss legislation, marketing strategies and market dynamics of the region and its growth potential. Delegates will be able to learn about the regulations in South American countries, how to identify the customer, evaluate the health benefit or the possible health claims, and how to prepare reports for the regulatory agencies. Denise de Oliveira Resende, Ph.D., general manager of Anvisa, will help delegates understand food regulatory issues and how they can help their business strategy.
Another feature of the marketing sessions is the opening presentation about the functional foods market. Carlos Otero of Euromonitor, will speak about conquering new markets and the Brazilian perception toward the concept of health. Delegates can also attend a workshop by professor Mauro Fisberg, from the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP) about “overweight and obesity in Brazil – the need for nutritional change based on the need of the population."
Vitafoods South America is organized by Informa Exhibitions, which is behind the Vitafoods Europe, Geneva, and Vitafoods Asia, Hong Kong.
