DSM Ups BetaNat Carotenoid Prices

KAISERAUGST, Switzerland—DSM increased the prices of its BetaNat products in its human nutrition portfolio  by 20 percent globally. Rick Greubel, president of human nutrition and health, DSM, said, “The price increase is essential for us to ensure the long-term viability of the business." The company said existing contracts will be fully honored.

Royal DSM acquired carotenoid producer Vitatene S.A.U., León, Spain, from P&R Group, Italy, in May 2010. Founded in 2004, Vitatene produces and sells of a range of high-value natural carotenoid products derived from fermentation of the fungus Blakeslea trispora. The products are sold under the brand names BetaNat and Lyconat.
