WASHINGTON—The Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) added two new voting members: Nordic Naturals, Watsonville, CA, and Optimum Nutrition Inc., Aurora, IL.

Nordic Naturals produces marine-based omega-3 fatty acid dietary supplements, as well manufactures other vitamins and minerals. The firm aims to correct omega-3 deficiency around the world using ethical and socially responsible practices with regard to the environment, corporate transparency, philanthropic partnership and education.

Optimum Nutrition, a wholly-owned subsidiary of international nutritional ingredient group Glanbia, owns and operates two different brands of nutritional supplements: Optimum Nutrition and ABB Performance. The firm’s products can be found at approximately 10,000 retail locations in the United States and are distributed in more than 70 countries.

CRN was recently named an association partner of SupplySide West, the largest trade show dedicated to manufacturers of natural products, set for Oct. 10 to 14, 2011 in Las Vegas at The Venetian & Sands Expo. Peggy Jackson, executive vice president of VIRGO’s Health & Nutrition Network, said the support and participation of SupplySide West’s association partners is vital to the success of the trade show.
