BENICIA, Calif.–More than 70 percent of diabetes educators who were surveyed at the American Association of Diabetes Educators Annual Meeting & Exhibition (AADE) in Las Vegas in August said they would recommend Zychrome™ (from InterHealth Nutraceuticals) for insulin management over chromium picolinate. The 374 surveyed attendees reviewed preliminary results from a randomized, double blind, placebo-controlled study comparing Zychrome™ to chromium picolinate for insulin function in people with type 2 diabetes.

More than 88 percent of AADE attendees surveyed indicated that the results of the study support the conclusion that Zychrome™ is better than chromium picolinate for insulin management. Preliminary results of the comparative study demonstrate that Zychrome significantly improved insulin function and impacted insulin levels by 30 percent compared to baseline.

Francis Lau, Ph.D., FACN, lead scientist for InterHealth Nutraceuticals administered the survey and said the majority of educators surveyed believe chromium to be one of many components in insulin management. Many attendees, however, did express a need for more information or education on supplements that they can in turn pass on to their clients.

“Diabetes educators are searching for an effective product to recommend to their clients. Something that is effective, safe and has significant impact on their client’s health," Lau said. “The industry needs to do a better job in educating these influencers and build awareness of how even a small lifestyle change such as supplementing with Zychrome may greatly impact lifelong health."
