HOERSHOLM, Denmark, and SAPPORO, Japan—Chr. Hansen A/S and Amino Up Chemical Co. Ltd. will develop dietary supplements and explore the opportunities within functional food market for at least the next five years, according to a new business agreement. The aim of the agreement is to synergize the effects of each company’s flagship ingredients. For Chr. Hansen, those flagships include clinically-documented probiotics, and Amino Up specializes in natural plant-derived ingredients.
“Some studies have already confirmed synergistic effects of our new products," added says Hajime Fujii, executive director, R&D Division, Amino Up. “These products are being finalized to be introduced to the global market."
The first products to come from the new partnership will be launched regionally in the beginning of 2012. The global sales and marketing of the new products will go through Chr. Hansen A/S, with the exception of Japan, which will be serviced by Amino Up.
