LAS VEGAS—BI Nutraceuticals will be sampling brownies made with chia, as well as discussing recently launched offerings including baobab fruit powder and quinoa at the company’s Booth #16049 at SupplySide West, Oct. 11 to 13 at the at The Venetian & Sands Expo in Las Vegas.
The chia-fortified brownies being showcased have great taste, consistency and mouth feel, without a seed-like texture, according to BI. They also contain 50-percent less fat than traditional brownies, and deliver 250 mgs of omega-3 fatty acids per serving.
BI will also be discussing its recently launched baobab fruit powder ingredient. Baobab fruit powder, which has GRAS (generally recognized as safe) status in the United States and EU novel food ingredient status, boasts a strong antioxidant profile; a complete source of vitamin C, calcium, potassium, magnesium and zinc; high levels of soluble fibers with prebiotic-like activity to promote the growth of healthy bacteria in the gut; a great natural source of micronutrients; and natural preservative properties due to high potassium and phosphorus content.
BI will also be highlighting quinoa, available in whole seed or powder form for use in breads, pastas, cereals and more. Quinoa contains 18-percent protein, which is significantly higher than other grains including oat, corn and rice. It is also a complete vegetarian source of protein delivering all eight essential amino acids. Additionally, quinoa is gluten-free.
