WASHINGTON—Thomas Goetz, executive editor of Wired magazine and author of “The Decision Tree: Taking Control of Your Health in the New Era of Personalized Medicine," is speaking during the opening session of The Conference, an annual symposium for the dietary supplement industry set up by the Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN).  The Conference takes place Oct. 19 to Oct. 22 at the Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA.

Goetz often covers the confluence of medicine, health and technology in his writing, and he has a keen interest in the personalization of medicine, the transparency of information and the new technologies that allow individuals to monitor their own health-related behaviors. Goetz’s work has been selected for both the Best American Science Writing and the Best Technology Writing anthologies, and since he joined Wired a decade ago, the magazine has won six National Magazine Awards.

Prior to joining Wired, Goetz was a staff reporter at The Wall Street Journal and the Village Voice. He has served as a commentator for the BBC Radio and has appeared numerous times on CNN, CNBC,ABC and other television outlets.

In addition to Goetz, FDA’s Daniel Fabricant, Ph.D., and former White House strategist Karl Rove, (former senior advisor to President George W. Bush) will be speaking at The Conference.  The Conference and The Workshop: CRN’s Annual Day of Science (which takes place immediately prior to The Conference) are open to CRN members and non-members.
