WASHINGTON—Joshua Sharfstein, M.D., will be the opening keynote speaker at The Conference, the Council for Responsible Nutrition’s (CRN) annual symposium for the dietary supplement industry. Sharfstein, the principal deputy commissioner at FDA, will provide an update on the agency’s dietary supplement-related regulatory activities during his address on Sept. 30. The Conference will take place Sept. 29 to Oct. 2 at the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort & Spa in Lost Pines, Texas, outside of Austin.

Sharfstein is expected to discuss implementation of the supplement GMPs (good manufacturing practices), the impact of the adverse event reporting (AER) law and the new dietary ingredient (NDI) notification guidance. He will also provide advice on what responsible industry can do to aid FDA in its mission to protect the public health.
