EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn.—S.K. Dash, Ph.D., the president and founder of UAS Laboratories, established an endowment at South Dakota State University (SDSU), College of Nutrition and Food Science, to provide funding for research, scholarships and new programs. The SDSU Foundation and the college will work with Dash on new programs, which may include a master’s program in clinical nutrition; certificate or master’s program in regulatory affairs with a focus on nutraceuticals; research in the area of probiotics applications; research on probiotics’ clinical effects; or a probiotics symposium.
Dash received his doctorate from SDSU in Brookings, S.D.; he is currently an adjunct professor of nutrition and food science for the land grant university. He founded UAS Laboratories in 1979, after serving as director of food and drug in South Dakota. Dash is also the vice president and scientific advisor to the International Probiotics Association.UAS President Establishes Endowment
