WASHINGTON—FDA issued a warning regarding Magic Power Coffee, an instant coffee product marketed as a dietary supplement that contains an unlabeled active drug. Product analysis conducted by FDA found Magic Power Coffee, which is marketed for sexual enhancement, contains hydroxythiohomosildenafil, a chemical similar to the active ingredient in Viagra; the compound may interact with other prescription medications and can cause dangerously low blood pressure.
Magic Power Coffee is distributed online by independent distributors participating in a multi-level marketing organization. While FDA noted it is not aware of any adverse events associated with the use of the product, the agency is advising consumers to discard the product; adverse events can be reported to FDA via its MedWatch program.
