WATSONVILLE, Calif.—After a lawsuit was filed in California earlier this week alleging several fish oil ingredients and finished products contain unsafe levels of environmental contaminants, Nordic Naturals issued a statement touting the quality of its products. The company, which was not named in the lawsuit, noted its products “surpass all PCB [polychlorinated biphenyls] standards set by California’s Proposition 65, the GOED voluntary monograph, and all international standards.”

Joar Opheim, CEO and founder, commented, “Nordic Naturals believes that consumers should have access to accurate information about environmental contaminants and that complete transparency around freshness and purity is essential.” The company publishes and continually updates an educational piece entitled “Why Nordic Naturals” to inform consumers about environmental contaminant testing, the steps the company has taken to ensure quality, as well as to disclose the company’s third-party testing results.
