CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif.—Best Formulations, a contract manufacturer of OTC and nutraceutical softgels, capsules, tablets, capsules, powders, and teas has received the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for Sport designation from NSF International. Created to meet demands by the sporting world for products safe and free from banned substances, this certification represents a minimized risk that a dietary supplement or sports nutrition product contains banned substances.
“It’s important that we take an active role in ensuring the safety of the products we manufacture,” said Robin Koon, senior VP, Best Formulations. “The GMP for Sport program from NSF International is just another way we can protect against adulteration and demonstrate that our facility and operations are GMP compliant. NSF is also widely recognized in the sports supplement field, so this instills additional confidence with our customers.”
NSF International’s GMP for Sport requires two annual GMP for Sport facility audits and manufacturer affidavits to verify the company does not source any of the ingredients on the World Anti-Doping Agency, National Football League (NFL), Major League Baseball (MLB), or Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) banned substances lists.
“We don’t look at these additional certifications as an expense,” said Eugene Ung, CEO, EBst Formulations. “Rather, we view them as investments critical to the continued growth and success of our customers.”
Edward Wyszumiala, general manager of NSF International’s Dietary Supplement Certification Programs, said the NSF GMP for Sport designation helps illustrate Best Formulations’ commitment in manufacturing high-quality products. “Selecting a sports supplement manufacturer can be difficult,” he added. “Seeking out manufacturers that have received GMP for Sport, such as Best Formulations, is your best protection as this certification verifies that all GMP requirements have been met and that athletic banned substances have not been sourced.”
