Wellmune WPGR Decreases Respiratory Infections

05/30/2008

MISSOULA, Mont.—The Montana Center for Work Physiology and Exercise Metabolism presented human clinical study findings at the Annual Meeting of the American College of Sports Medicine on May 29, showing Wellmune WPGR decreased the amount of upper respiratory tract infections in firefighters. Supported by an unrestricted grant from Biothera, (Biothera.com), the single-blind, randomized, cross-over study administered Wellmune WPGR, a yeast-based antioxidant supplement, or a placebo to 54 wildland firefighters for 14 days, followed by a three-day washout period and another 14-day treatment period. Thirty-seven percent of the treatment group experienced an upper respiratory tract infection; 48 percent of the placebo group experienced an infection.
