FDA Publishes Guide on Dietary Supplement Regulation

Mainstream media (and dope test-failing athletes) take note: FDA has published an educational pamphlet explaining in clear terms how dietary supplements are regulated. This document explains the basics of the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA) and discusses supplement safety, in addition to advising consumers to be informed and consult with their health care practitioners. In the online pamphlet, there are also links for consumers to learn more about adverse event reporting; food labeling and nutrition; becoming a savvy supplement shopper; and a general overview on dietary supplements.
